Thanks to Randy, he sent me Winger's forgotten work, PULL. This is an excellent hard rock CD with some very fine playing. It's not considered "progressive" especially for the more formatted structure and heavy vocals, but the music is in the shade of SYI's by OTV.
My point is this, after seeing Planet X's Moonbabies tour (opening night & closing night of the US tour) I was completely disappointed in the lack of fan support. By the second act, there was MAYBE 25 people (guys) watching. This is just plain sad. In MD, they gave Green Day 5x the coverage as PX's Live CD. I complained to the editor about this, not that they can't cover a popular band as Green Day, but that they would ignore such talented musicians and support a genre of music overlooked in this land of Clear Channel Radio, Wal-Mart, and Target who seem to be selling the CD's to our culture.
All that to say this?I wish PX or OTV would try to expand their writing to include a few vocals and strive for a more diverse audience. IMO, all fans of metal should dig PX. All the Metallica fans should be introduced to this band with some tunes that would draw them in. Now, if PX or OTV are actually making some cash, then great, but?this market is as difficult as it has ever been to actually make any real money off CD?s and touring.
I hope I?m wrong.
